There are several ways you can add items to your Zotero library. Below we'll cover adding items via:

You'll be able to find the resource in your Zotero library.
Add resources to your library using a DOI, ISBN, PMID, or arXiv ID by selecting the magic wand icon.
When using a DOI include the https:// prefix
In the example below, (1) click the magic wand icon (2) paste a DOI into the search box
The resource will be added to your Zotero library.
You can drag a PDF file from your desktop into Zotero.
If you choose this option, it's important to look at the information that Zotero obtained, as you may need to edit this information.
In the example below, after dragging a book chapter PDF into a library, I see that much of the information for this book chapter is incorrect and missing.
To edit this information, click next to the field you'd like to edit. For example, to edit the Edition field, click the space next to Edition.
To add a resource manually, select the Add icon.
Select the type of resource you want to add and complete the fields.
For Book Chapters, select Book Section as the type.
