Important Bibliographies
Historical information can be challenging to find, but a classic method is to examine the bibliographies or references cited in relevant articles or books. Here are a few to get you started.
- Ehrlander, Mary. The Historical Roots of a Frontier Alcohol Culture: Alaska and Northern Canada. The Northern Review, no. 32. Spring, (2010).
This UAF professor's article has a lengthy list of relevant references. The article is free, but you do have to create a sign-in account for the journal's website.
- Grinëv, Andrei V. The Distribution of Alcohol among the Natives of Russian America. Arctic Anthropology 47, no. 2, (2010), 69-79.
This article focuses on early alcohol use in Russian America. The sources may be hard to find, and some only in Russian! Ask a Reference Librarian for assistance if you want to find some of them.
