In this first section of the East Wall, you can find important information from the State of Alaska such as but not limited to" the Statutes, special reports, legal frameworks, environmental impact statements, and more! You can also find Bethel yearbooks dating back to the 1950s and atlases of the state near the bottom of the shelf.
The Tundra Drums newspaper and its successor The Delta Discovery have provided news, stories, and coupons to the YK Delta for years! In this segment of the wall you can find all editions of both of these influential papers dating back to the late 90s for the Discovery and the 70s for the Drums. Fun fact, these are some of our most viewed items in the Alaska Room!
The Alaska Room offers a wide range of video material focusing on Alaska and this region. Here you can find old KYUK productions, documentaries on the land and animals, tutorials on how to process and store various foods, and many other cultural and entertainment programs. There is also a selection of older VHS tapes, containing similar content.
The last section of the East Wall contains the Alaska Room's reference collection. These books can be taken off the shelf and viewed but cannot be checked out. They represent some of the foundational texts and hard-to-find editions or copies which are in good enough condition to display. Here you can find the City of Bethel's municipal codes, bibliographic information, and non-bound research guides.
