The Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives at the University of Fairbanks Alaska Rasmuson Library will be hosting an open house on October 16th at 4pm-7pm.
This year's theme is dog mushing, celebrated under the title Breaking Trail: History, Heritage and Huskies, as it's the 100th Anniversary of the 1925 Diphtheria Serum Run to Nome, an event that legendary dogs Balto & Togo became famous for.
We'll be featuring the collections of our own departments, like Photos & Manuscripts, Rare Books & Maps, Alaskana, Film, Oral History, and Native Languages, as well as special guests from the University of Alaska Museum of the North & Eielson Air Force Base.
We'll also have several dogs on the premises for pets and cuddles with the local volunteer pet therapy organization, Companion Inc.
Light refreshments will be served, with free parking beginning at 5pm.
This event is open to the public.
