Gift Policy for General and BioSciences Library Collections
Gifts, whether of funds or materials, provide a valuable potential source for collection enhancement, and are welcomed. But since significant staff time and other library resources are involved in properly evaluating and processing material gifts, and since no library dealing with finite space limitations and following an orderly and rational collection development policy can absorb all materials which might possibly be donated, the following guidelines are established.
Transferring or Donating Records
The University Archives is the official repository for all materials of enduring value to the University of Alaska. Administrative offices, colleges and schools, academic departments, institutes and committees, and student groups are asked to regularly transfer historically valuable records. Significant records include publications, meeting minutes, project files, publicity materials, correspondence, and photographs.
Oral History Gifts & Donations
The Oral History program welcomes donations of Alaska-related audio and video oral history interviews. For further information, please contact Dr. William Schneider by phone at (907) 474-6773 or by e-mail at ffwss [at] uaf [dot] edu. Please contact Dr. Schneider before sending any materials.
Alaska & Polar Regions Gifts & Donations
The Alaska & Polar Regions Collections are largely the result of thousands of donations over many years from people who share our commitment to Alaska and the circumpolar world.
If you have photographs or personal papers, films, oral history recordings, publications, or other documents that you might be willing to donate, we are eager to hear about them.
