Photo Services Staff

Marge Thompson: Manages the photo lab at Digital Photographic Services. She has a 36 year background in many phases of the photographic industry. Marge is also a Fine Arts Photographer, whose work is held by the University of Alaska Museum (Fairbanks), the Center for Photographic Art (Carmel, CA),  the Rasmuson Foundation, (Anchorage) and numerous private collections worldwide. In March 2005, she was awarded an Individual Project Award grant, by the Rasmuson Foundation.

Discount Scans: 35mm slides only, or of printed materials up to 11" x 14". Files are 1000 pixels long. JPEG only, suitable for web, powerpoint, and email. Not suitable for publication. Minimum quantity of 20 (done in 1 order).$7.00 ea.$7.00 ea.
Basic Scans: Standard film formats up to 8 X 10 and printed material up to 17" x 22". Typical file size is 3000-4000 pixels on the long dimension, delivered as a 300 dpi TIFF, suitable for publication.$9.00$14.00
Complex Scans: Film larger than 8 X 10, odd sized film, printed material larger than 17" x 22 " and 40" x 60". Any item from the vault [rare books/maps] will be charged at this rate, or using the Special Scanning hourly rate.$36.00$54.00

Digital Photographic Services

Our services include:

We provide professional digital imaging services to the university community and to the public. We specialize in working with old materials such as albums and delicate original negatives and prints and with large items such as maps and original artwork.

We can image items up to 40" by 60" in a single pass, and can scan film formats from 35mm up to 8x10 and panorama. Our large format photo printers can make prints up to 24" wide by almost any length (the longest print to date is 25 feet long). Our large-format plotter can produce professional posters and other large prints up to 54" wide by many feet long.
