Hooking up the hybrid coupler to record a phone interview
The following instructions below will tell you how to hookup the library's hybrid coupler to your phone, so that you can record phone conversations - note, the below instructions only work on ANALOG phones; UAF Telephone Services is increasingly installing DIGITAL phone lines. If your phone extension is NEW, you may have a digital line. Telephone Services can tell you which you have. The equipment you need looks like this:
How do I hook the data projector up to my laptop?
Instructions for setting up your PC Laptop with a Data Projector
- Plug the PC into the outlet – DO NOT TURN ON YET!
- Connect the blue or beige male end of the VGA cord into the female jack on the back of the PC – the UAF laptop jacks have a little rectangular monitor icon next to the jack.
- Plug the other end into the same kind of jack on the data projector (RGB 1).
- Plug in data projector – Take lens cap off.
- TURN ON DATA PROJECTOR FIRST – press standby ON one time.

Media Services
Besides loaning videos and media equipment, the library provides a number of media services including videotape & DVD duplication, lamination, and tape repair. Find out more....
Tape Repair
We can perform basic repairs to VHS videotapes, audio reels and audiocassettes at a cost of $5 per tape. You may deliver your damaged tapes to the Media Equipment counter, located on the main floor of the Rasmuson Library. This service is offered to UAF faculty, staff and students.
Lamination
We have two self-serve laminating machines located behind the circulation counter.
- You must check in with the circulation counter staff before using the machines.
- Please allow 15 minutes for the machines to warm up.
- Prices are:
12" wide: $.25/ft
25" wide: $.50/ft
Payment in cash or check only, please!
Use of the lamination machines is patron or self-operated; the library cannot be responsible for lamination errors.

Transparencies
We now sell blank transparency sheets for $.25. These sheets can be used in any of the public copiers. If you choose to buy sheets elsewhere, be sure that they are approved for copiers!

Scheduling Films or Videos for classes or events
If you need to reserve a film or video for a specific date, you can stop by in person or call the Media Desk 907-474-7072 and reserve it; we offer this service to faculty or official student activities or clubs.
Please try to reserve films/videos at least two weeks in advance. For scheduled formal classes, please notify us at the beginning of the semester. Others are subject to approval by the Media Technician Supervisor.
