See our Library Services Updates page for information about changes to Rasmuson Library Services.

UAF students, staff, and faculty can now enter the library to pick out or to return their own materials, accessing the library by PolarExpress card.

Public library patrons can again place holds on our materials through the public library's catalog. Items can be picked up at the Noel Wien Library or the North Pole Branch.

University patrons who are reluctant to enter the library can still check materials out by appointment. Set an appointment to pick up items.

Requesting Materials via ILL from within library databases

Many of our article/book databases allow you to submit an ILL directly from the database. If the article/book isn't available in full text, look for the "Find It" icon:

  1. After clicking the icon, a new window or tab will open. If you still don't see options to view the article/book in full text, click "Request this item through interlibrary loan!"
  2. If needed, login using your UA username and password
  3. After logging in review the citation information and if needed, make changes.
  4. Scroll down and click the "Submit Request" button.
  5. To logout, click the "Exit ILLiad System" button.

Requesting Materials via ILL using the online form

  2. On the left side, under Request Options, click the button for the type of material you wish to request.
