See our Library Services Updates page for information about changes to Rasmuson Library Services.

UAF students, staff, and faculty can now enter the library to pick out or to return their own materials, accessing the library by PolarExpress card.

Public library patrons can again place holds on our materials through the public library's catalog. Items can be picked up at the Noel Wien Library or the North Pole Branch.

University patrons who are reluctant to enter the library can still check materials out by appointment. Set an appointment to pick up items.

UAF Rasmuson Library Mural Call for Artists

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking to commission an artist to create a mural for display at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library located on the Fairbanks campus.

The mural should reflect the diversity of Alaska Native cultures, the knowledge, cultural practices and technologies, as well as contributions Alaska Natives, have made to the state and university. The mural should aid in creating an inclusive environment that inspires others.

The mural will be housed in the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, Alaska’s largest, with more than 1.7 million items, including books, periodicals, films, sound recordings, microforms, government documents, maps, manuscripts and archival materials, as well as electronic access to more than 20 million titles worldwide.
