Sydney Laurence Exhibition: May 23, 4:30-6:00pm

Sydney Laurence Exhibition

From the Private Collection of Tom and Mary Albanese

Friday, May 23, 2014 4:30–6 p.m. Level 4, Rasmuson Library UAF Campus

Twelve paintings recently acquired by UAF alumni Tom and Mary Albanese will be on display for one night only. The paintings formerly hung in the Denali State Bank building on Cushman Street.

The paintings range in size from 8"×10" to 20"×15" and depict a variety of subjects — from Laurence’s iconic “Cache in the Forest” to works painted during a tour of Europe.

Laurence is considered one of Alaska’s most important historical artists, coming to the state in 1903 or 1904. He was a prolific painter whose subjects included cabins and caches under the aurora borealis.
