Rasmuson Library subscribes to 33 current newspapers from Alaska and northwestern Canada. We have over 5700 reels of Alaska newspaper microfilm, representing more than 500 different newspapers.

Finding Alaska Newspapers in Rasmuson Library

To find the call number of a specific newspaper:

1. In Goldmine, type the name of the newspaper in the Periodical Title box.
2. Click Search.

Example: a search for Nome Nugget will lead you to current paper copies, microfilm backfiles, and variant titles such as Nome Daily Nugget.

To find the call number of newspapers from a specific town:

1. In Goldmine, in the Subject box, type name of the town plus the item format. The format is usually Newspapers but sometimes it can be Periodicals, so try searching for both.
2. Click Search.

Example, search first: Sitka Newspapers and then: Sitka Periodicals.
