How Do I ...? - Circulation
Questions about checking out library materials, library fines, and library cards.
For undergraduates most print materials can be checked out for 28 days. See Loan Periods for more information.
Please see http://library.uaf.edu/checkout
All current dues paying UA alumni may use the university libraries on all campuses. Alumni who live in Fairbanks can acquire a Noel Wien Public Library Card and use that to check out materials at Rasmuson and BioScience Libraries. You will need to visit us to change your record from your Polar Express card number to the Public Library card number.
We're sorry, but Alumni cannot check out media equipment, unless they have another UAF affiliation (guest scholar, visiting faculty, etc.)
Access to many reference sources is available through the Rasmuson Library website. Some sources with a padlock are available only to faculty, staff and students when they are off campus. You may use these resources on campus in person, however. You may also use the Statewide Library Electronic Doorway at http://sled.alaska.edu. Please call the reference desk at 474-7482 for further help.
See this page: http://library.uaf.edu/renew
I assume you mean how do you renew books that are checked out to *you*? You can call the Circulation Desk at 474-6762 and give your Polar Express number on the back of your card, (the one starting with 2000...) and get your PIN. Then:
-click on "Goldmine" from the library home page, (library.uaf.edu) and
-click "my account" from the upper right hand Goldmine screen.
-Your "user ID" is the 2000 # on the back of your Polar Express card.
-Your password is your PIN.
You may renew your books this way, check your record, change your record, and change your PIN.
Please note: if your items are overdue, you will not be allowed the renew them. You will have to call the Circulation Desk. Instructions for this process are at http://library.uaf.edu/pin and and other services available to you are at http://library.uaf.edu/circulation.
You check out books at the circulation desk.
To borrow items the library doesn't own, use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service. See the ILL page for more information.
You can go to Goldmine at http://goldmine.uaf.edu/uafandbiosci and choose "my account" from the upper right hand side. Your "user ID" is your 10 digit number starting with "2000" on the back of your Polar Express card. Your password is your 4 digit PIN number that (hopefully) we told you when you signed up for library privileges. If you didn't get your PIN at that time, call us at 474-6762 and we'll give it to you. You can then "review your account" or "renew your materials".
