Rasmuson Library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Libraries. This agreement allows us to focus on purchasing specific types of books - mostly academic and scholarly books - and the public libraries to focus on purchasing other types of books, such as current popular fiction. Although there is some overlap in the materials we buy, the agreement allows both entities to save public funds and maximize access to all types of materials for all our library patrons.

We do have a small "bestseller" collection that we lease rather than buy; if you want some "lighter" reading than you're finding in our book stacks, try this collection on Rasmuson Library's 4th floor, near the Reference Desk. If you still don't see what you want, consider a visit to the public library; they have a terrific collection of contemporary fiction.
