EndNote Tips

Downloading EndNote citations from library databases.

  • Many of the databases indicate a button or click to "export" or "save to" EndNote. Sometimes the export feature is more hidden; check below to see how to handle citations from specific databases.
  • Before downloading citations from the library database, make sure your EndNote library is already open.

Database Specific Tips

  • ProQuest - You need to "mark" the citation you want by clicking in the square to the left of the citation on the results list. Then click on the "My Research" tab at the top. You then have the option to "export directly" to EndNote.
  • Springer - Your export option here is located in the right-hand shaded column, "export this article as RIS." This may work differently depending on the operating system you are using; MS Vista requires an extra couple of steps, even if your EndNote Library is open.
  • CSA - If you're off campus, you'll need to download the CSA Endnote Connection Files, see instructions on how to get these files.
