EndNote is a commercially available software program, available for Windows and Macintosh, used to manage bibliographic citations.  UAF has an EndNote license that faculty, students, and staff can use. To download Endnote, go to the OIT Download Site (note, UAF authentication required).

Note: You must be on campus or connected via the UAF VPN to download EndNote.

EndNote Training

The university's site license for EndNote includes free training and free technical support for all users, all through the EndNote website. There are video tutorials on this website, and a toll-free number for getting one-on-one help. Toll-free tech support: 800-336-4474.

If you prefer a class format, webinars offered are provided by an experienced EndNote trainer and all you need is a computer and telephone to attend. You can sign up for a webinar on the same EndNote website.

UAF Rasmuson Library Catalog Connection File

If you want to search the UAF Rasmuson Library Catalog from within EndNote, download the connection file (right click) and put it in your Applications = > EndNote => Connections folder.


Edit your existing UAF Library Catalog connection file. To do this in EndNote:

  1. Open an EndNote Library
  2. From the menu, click EditConnection Files, Open Connection Manager

     Navigate to the connection file

  3. Check U Alaska-Fairbanks and click Edit

    Edit the U Alaska-Fairbanks connection file

  4. Make sure the following fields are set:

    About this connection: Based on: Symphony

    Changed the Based on setting


  5. Connection Settings:

    Server Address:

    Database Name: Symphony

    Change connection settings information

  6. Save the new settings.
