Library Cards
First-Time Library Users: If you've never checked out materials from Rasmuson/BioSciences, you'll need to complete a library registration form. All cards require periodic updating by the library.
-
For UAF Students, Staff and Faculty. Your Polar Express ID is your library card! Current students, staff and faculty are eligible for a Polar Express identification card, available in Room 203 of the Eielson Building.
-
For Off-Campus UAF Students, Staff and Faculty. If you are enrolled in a UAF distance delivery program, use the online form to request a library card. You must be registered in a course or employed through the University of Alaska Fairbanks system to apply for a library card.
-
For Fairbanks North Star Borough Residents. If you are not affiliated with UAF but are a resident of the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB), you may obtain a Rasmuson library card by first obtaining a valid library card at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Library located at 1215 Cowles Street.
-
For Alaskan Residents. If you are an Alaskan resident, but not a resident of the Borough, you may be eligible to borrow a limited number of items through the Alaska Libraries Reciprocal Borrowing Program; check with a supervisor at the Circulation Desk for further details.
-
For Guest Researchers and Visiting Faculty Affiliated with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. If you are not employed by the University of Alaska, but are affiliated with a campus department doing research either on campus or with other campus researchers, you will need to obtain a Polar Express card and have your sponsoring department fill out a "Guest" form, in order to be eligible to check out materials. Once the form is processed, you have your card, and have registered at either the Rasmuson or BioSciences Libraries, you may check out books, audiovisual format material, and may use our Interlibrary Loan service. This form does not include the use of our media equipment; departments should contact the Rasmuson Library Media Desk if there is a special need for such equipment.
