The Rasmuson Library is networked for wireless access throughout the building. Windows with a view of the Alaska Range and Denali are found on Levels 5 and 6.

Laptops, Digital Media Equipment and More for Loan

Group Study Rooms and Quiet Study Floors

Rasmuson Library has several group study rooms available for student use. Rooms may be reserved or used on a first-come/first-served basis (inquire at the circulation desk). Several floors of the library are also designated quiet study areas (Levels 2, 5 and 6).

All Hours Study Room

Rasmuson Library offers a 24 hour study space and computer lab located on the main entry floor of the building and is open during regular library hours. For added security when the library is closed access to the all hours study requires a valid Polar Express ID.

Copiers & Printers

Copiers and printers are located throughout the library. Printing and copying require a deposit of “Bear Bucks” to your Polar Express account or you can purchase a copy card for $1.00 and add the amount of cash you will need to make prints. Machines called “value transfer stations,” which allow you to add money to Polar Express accounts, are located in Rasmuson Library, BioSciences Library, Wood Center, MBS lobby, and Bunnell Computer Lab.

Keith B. Mather Library @ the Geophysical Institute

The Keith B. Mather Library is the research support library for the Geophysical Institute and the International Arctic Research Center. The collection includes the following subject areas: atmospheric sciences, glaciology, global change, ice snow, permafrost, remote sensing, seismology, space physics, and volcanology. Located in the IARC building on the west ridge of campus.

Start your research early and always ask for help from your professors and reference librarians. Student groups of 2 or 3 may schedule individual sessions with a librarian to review helpful resources for your project, including finding journal articles, books and other materials appropriate to your topic.

The UAF Writing Center is another place to get help when it comes time to write your paper. They work with students on a one-to-one basis at any point in the writing process—planning, drafting revising. Make an appointment by calling ahead or stopping by at your convenience. The Writing Center also has 18 computers available on a walk-in basis, with technicians and tutors on hand to assist with computer-related questions. BioSciences Library

Contains holdings in 27 life science subject areas from agriculture through bioinformatics, ecology, forestry, marine biology, medicine, neuroscience and plant physiology to
zoology. Located in the Arctic Health Research building on the west ridge of campus.
