#22 ListenAlaska & Gutenberg

Listen Alaska

Listen Alaska is the audio books program which UAF is a member with many other institutions in the State. The program can be accessed from the E-Books page section of the Rasmuson Library web page or this link. Listen Alaska requires you to download and install the overdrive software, then to register that software. Once that is done you are free to “check out download and enjoy” the audio books available.

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is an online book collection, most of which are beyond copyright restrictions. Download is free and the zip download is fast in my experiences.  You can search or browse by author or title.

  1. If you haven’t really explored Project Gutenberg, note that it’s more than just “online books,” but also includes audio books, music scores, and more!

  2. I have used the books that are on Listen Alaska and they are enjoyable to use. Many of the books that I have listened to have been the westerns and there were only a few when we 1st started with Listen Alaska. Looking at what have been added from when Listen Alaska started there are allot more westerns now. The westerns seem to be on hold or being used so many are enjoying them as I do. The books for learning a new language are great, they have helped me to brush up on much of what I don’t use regularly.
