#07 RSS Feeds
Learn about RSS feeds and setup your own Bloglines newsreader account. Did you know RSS works on library catalogs? You can set up a feed to a particular library’s catalog to find out when they receive a new book on a particular subject. We hope to add this functionality to Goldmine soon. To try it out now, check out the University of Alberta’s RSS options for new books:

After you’ve learned about and tried out Bloglines, you might want to try other newsreaders; there are plenty out there. Firefox has a built in RSS reader, called “live bookmark.” It’s very easy and useful. The UA Portal also allows you to get RSS feeds, as does My yahoo. Here is a list of some other RSS readers you can try:
