UAF students, staff, and faculty can now enter the library to pick out or to return their own materials, accessing the library by PolarExpress card.

Public library patrons can again place holds on our materials through the public library's catalog. Items can be picked up at the Noel Wien Library or the North Pole Branch.

University patrons who are reluctant to enter the library can still check materials out by appointment. Set an appointment to pick up items.

New Library Dean

Dr. Bella Karr Gerlich has accepted the position of UAF Dean of Libraries. She plans to start work August 15. Dr. Gerlich is coming to UAF from the position of University Librarian of the Rebecca Crown Library at Dominican University in Illinois. From 2006-2008, she was an Associate Professor and Associate University Librarian at the Georgia College & State University, Library and Instructional Technology Center (LITC). From 1995-2006 she served in several positions, including University Libraries Senior Librarian and Head, Arts and Special Collections, at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Gerlich earned her Ph.D. Library and Information Sciences in 2006 from the University of Pittsburgh. She received a Master's of Public Management in 1999 from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1985 from Virginia Commonwealth University.
